Actroid is a humanoid robot with human-like appearance that actually developed by Osaka University and manufactured by Kokoro Company Ltd. [disvisi animatorik Sanrio] was first introduced at the 2003 International Robot Exposition in Tokyo, Japan.
Many products with different versions were created afterwards. Usually the robot is made such that it akin to a young woman of Japanese descent. Actrod is an example of a pioneer for real machine-like android or gynoid in science fiction. Actroid capable of expression as a wink, speaking, and breathing. Actroid skin is made of silicone and looks like a real human skin. A total of 47 sensors drive paired in the upper body Actroid thus able to react naturally as humans.
Actroid sensing system capable of driving the sensor makes it react fast enough to do or deflect boxing. But so far the lower body movement is still limited. Actroid can be rented together costumes to greet guests with cafe, information center, complex, enterprise, or a museum, at a cost of 400,000 yen for 5 days including the cost of the choreography.
